Address: 2277 Ridge Road, South Park, PA 15129
Each session includes use of school horse, tack (equipment), or bring your own.
Riding skills are based on balanced seat English riding and include dressage(flat work), cavelleti (ground rails/small fences), and jumping. Once appropriate, students are taught to ride and jump in the open (fields and trails).
Riding lessons are progressive. A strong foundation of basics makes learning advanced skills easier and more enjoyable. In each session we review what was covered previously before moving forward.
We place a strong emphasis on saftey, both in the saddle and when working around horses. Helmets and correct footware are mandatory.
Students are taught horsemanship, not just riding - they are required to properly groom, tack, warm up, cool out and provide after riding care for their horse. Assistance will be provided until the student becomes competent at performing these tasks alone.
As students advance, we provide ample opportunities to participate in clinics with top equestrians and to show both locally and nationally. We encourage showing to build and test skills being taught in lessons. While many of our students are successful competitors, our true focus at special events is on good sportsmanship, team work, saftey and fun.
Our instructor, Marie Mong, competes actively in United States Eventing Asociation recognized events. She has also extensively shown hunter-jumper and dressage.
Marie has a positive and active approach to teaching. You will find that her passion for horses and riding is rather contagious! She is eager to help you (and your horse) build your skills, increase your confidence, meet your goals, and exceed your expectations.
Lessons can be scheduled for weekdays and weekends. Please call or email at least one day in advance to schedule an appointment. Some students book the same time spot weekly.
Whether you are a first time rider looking for a great start or more experienced, you are welcome to join us! We teach all ages: young children, teens, college students, and adults. We can help you polish your skills for the show ring, or improve communication and safety for pleasure and trail riding.
Riding is a healthy outdoor sport that can be enjoyed alone, in a group, as part of a team, or especially family. You will increase physical and mental fitness while making friendships and memories that will last a lifetime!
Farm visits are welcome! However, we request that you call ahead to ensure someone can be available to meet you. To schedule an appointment to view the facility, meet the horses and/or to get started in the riding lesson program:
